Lockdown may extend till July!

New Delhi:  As COVID-19 cases continue to spike across the country and India having gained the 10th spot among the pandemic hit nations, the Centre is likely to extend the lockdown till June 15. Highly placed sources said that with Lockdown 4.0 coming to an end on May 31, the Centre is learnt to be actively considering the option of further extending it by another two weeks. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will seek reports from all the states on the various measures taken by them during the Lockdown 4.0 (i.e. the period between May 18 and May 31), and then take a final call on the matter. Insurance

Image
What Is Insurance? Insurance is a contract, represented by a policy, in which an individual or entity receives financial protection or reimbursement against losses from an insurance company. The company  pools clients' risks  to make payments more affordable for the insured. Insurance policies are used to  hedge  against the risk of financial losses, both big and small, that may result from damage to the insured or her property, or from liability for damage or injury caused to a third party. How Insurance Works There is a multitude of different types of insurance policies available, and virtually any individual or business can find an insurance company willing to insure them—for a price. The most common types of personal insurance policies are auto, health, homeowners, and life. Most individuals in the United States have at least one of these types of insurance, and car insurance is required by law. KEY TAKEAWAYS Insurance is a contract (policy) in which an insu...

TCS to take less staff from US clients as it builds BFSI muscle

Image
I n the past one year, TCS signed three mega deals in the insurance totalling $4 billion in value, signalling a steady turnaround in the insurance platform. All the contracts had a component of absorbing some of clients' employees. "In these kind of deals, it is likely to have more in sourcing at first. As we build scale and capability in the geography the need to insource from deal could become less over a period of time," said K Krithivasan , President of the Banking and Financial Services Business Unit at TCS. "Early deals may have insourcing but successive deals may not." TCS deals of $2-billion-plus deal —its largest ever — with Transamerica, marked the Indian outsourcing leader’s entry into the highly specialised US third-party insurance administration business. "In general, the BFSI segment is slowing down investments in traditional outsourcing work, but increasing aggressively in emerging areas such as automation and digital. Hence this is more ...

'Ghoomketu' movie review: A whimsical but odd ticket to Bollywood

Image
Ghoomketu runs away from his quaint little town of Mahona to the bustling city of Mumbai to become a writer. He is someone who says, “Struggle karta hoon,” when asked what he does in life. Sipping on a cutting chai, he narrates one of his scripts to a sympathetic, but busy young kid who works in the shop. When he begins his narration, the kid tells him, “Picture ka end bata. End achchi hai toh picture chalegi, nahi to pitegi. Beech mein jo hota hai, usse fark nahi padta (Just tell me the climax, no one cares about the middle portions).” Looking at Ghoomketu, a film that was in the cans for almost six years, this line feels like meta-commentary. Though powered by very strong performances, Ghoomketu too is brought down at times by a middling middle portion, but the sheer outlandishness of the narration tries to do a bit of salvaging. There is a lot of fourthwall- breaking by a hilarious Nawazuddin Siddiqui and this trope is milked for adequate laughs, albeit a bit too much. If this film ...
