PUBG Corporation last week announced the comeback of PUBG Mobile in India. The battle royale game will come to India in a new avatar with some India-centric features. PUBG Mobile India has been teasing its comeback with the launch date expected to be revealed soon.
PUBG Mobile was among the second wave of China-linked apps that were banned in India due to security concerns. PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite were still working for users who had the games installed on their phones. By the end of October, PUBG Mobile shut its servers down in India. Just two weeks after that, the company announced it will launch ‘PUBG Mobile India’.

PUBG Mobile India launch date
PUBG Corp. is yet to announce the launch date of PUBG Mobile India. It has so far come up with the official website of PUBG Mobile India, Facebook page and YouTube channel. It has also launched teaser videos featuring PUBG Mobile players Dynamo, Kronten and Jonathan. But its gameplay and features are yet to be revealed.
PUBG Mobile India-centric features
PUBG Mobile India will come with features customised for players in the country. The game will be set in a virtual simulation training ground, and new characters will be clothed. It will also have green hit effects which the company says is to reflect the virtual nature of the game. PUBG Mobile India will also promote healthy gameplay habits for younger players. PUBG Mobile has received flak for promoting violence especially among the young crowd in India.
India-exclusive esports events
PUBG Corporation along with its parent company KRAFTON announced it will invest $100 million in India to promote local video games, esports, entertainment and IT industries. The company also plans to host India-exclusive esports events, and promises “the biggest tournaments, the largest prize pools, and the best tournament productions.”
PUBG Mobile India registrations
PUBG Mobile India pre-registrations have gone live on game sharing community TapTap. The game has amassed around 200,000 pre-registrations, according to a report by News18. PUBG Mobile India has managed to cross pre-registrations of another anticipated game FAU-G which is supposed to be its alternative. The official registrations for the PUBG Mobile India game are yet to go live.
Green light from government
PUBG Corporation has gone ahead with the launch of PUBG Mobile India but it looks like the company hasn’t received the green light from the government yet. According to a report by TOI, the government “remains steadfast on its decision to ban the gaming app in view of the stated concerns.” PUBG Corp is no longer tied up with Tencent Games for the Indian version of the game. The original PUBG Mobile game remains banned in India but there’s no official word on the new version.
